FY20 VSP Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation

The Virginia Department of State Police will utilize the grant funds to support the development of the VSOMS college and university data submission and validation process, the federal government will benefit by having a submission and notification process that will enable the SOR to update sex offender information and start enforcement proceedings in a timely manner. In addition, the updated sex offender data will be provided to the federal databases, which will allow the information to be accessible nationwide. Furthermore, the development and implementation of the new process will increase the speed in which sex offenders attending a college or university in the Commonwealth of Virginia are verified and registered, which will in turn ensure up-to-date sex offender registration reporting.
