Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $81,793)

The Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Training and Technical Assistance (CASOM) Grant Program, authorized by 42 U.S.C. 13941, supports training programs to assist probation officers, parole officers, and others who work with released sex offenders in the areas of case management, supervision and relapse prevention.

The Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families (DSCYF) will provide sex offender management training to specific Department staff, contractors and community partners. DSCYF has identified a need for additional, more focused and specialized training for individuals in 6 targeted areas based on the specific role and responsibility each team member provides as part of a 'multi-disciplinary sex offender treatment team'. DSCYF will utilize the grant funds to deliver this specialized training, with a continued goal to increase and improve upon existing in-state ISB service delivery. DSCYF intends to decrease reliance on sending ISB youth to deep end, out-of-state treatment facilities.
