FY 2023 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program

The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma will use AWA grant funds to hire a full-time SORNA officer to further substantial implementation of its SORNA program. The SORNA officer will be a full-time, certified law enforcement officer capable of conducting all duties related to SORNA implementation. The SORNA officer will be responsible for taking a stagnant SORNA program and transform it into a proactive endeavor determined to notify and protect the citizens of the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma and jurisdictional areas; update and enhance current SORNA related tribal codes; train law enforcement officers in sex offender registration procedures; participate in ongoing meetings with partner agencies for information sharing and improved working relationships; identify, register, monitor and apprehend offenders in the tribe’s territory; and operate a proactive community notification system.
