Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $1,000,000)

FVTC proposes to provide specialized training and technical assistance (TTA) to support tribal jurisdictions in meeting Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) requirements and provide guidance on how to develop and sustain successful sex offender registration and notification programs. FVTC will work with a pool of subject matter experts and partners to address the TTA needs of tribes who have opted to serve as registration jurisdictions.

FVTC proposes three objectives: assess program, policy and data capacity for each TTA site; conduct targeted data-informed TTA; and report data, evaluations and TTA feedback to the SMART Office. Deploying a three-pronged approach, primary activities involve technical and programmatic training, collaborative relationship building and program sustainability. Activities include offering TTA to tribal SORNA jurisdictions based on comprehensive needs assessments, individual TTA plans and through varying delivery methods. TTA delivery methods include, but are not limited to, regional workshops, onsite and remote TTA, webinar and online learning formats and conference presentations. CA/NCF
