Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $176,100)

The Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Training and Technical Assistance (CASOM) Grant Program, authorized by 42 U.S.C. 13941, supports training programs to assist probation officers, parole officers, and others who work with released sex offenders in the areas of case management, supervision and relapse prevention.

This project will allow the Tompkins County Sex Offender Compliance Court (SOCC) team members (court staff, probation, criminal justice stakeholders) to: participate in national sex offender trainings in order to develop curriculum development capacity, host an intensive training in Tompkins County to certify probation officers in the use of offender assessment tools, enhance current court technology, and assess and formalize collaborations and policies between the SOCC, criminal justice stakeholders and victim advocates.
