Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $112,594)

The Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Training and Technical Assistance (CASOM) Grant Program, authorized by 42 U.S.C. 13941, supports training programs to assist probation officers, parole officers, and others who work with released sex offenders in the areas of case management, supervision and relapse prevention.

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes will develop the Cheyenne-Arapaho SORNA Compliant Training Program. This program will obtain training for personnel who are responsible for sex offender registry compliance, with an emphasis on management and supervision. The Cheyenne and Arapaho SORNA Compliant Training Program will collaborate with Cheyenne Tribal Law Enforcement, BIA Law Enforcement, and the State of Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry program. As necessary, coordination with the tribal Social Services Child Welfare Department as well as the State Department of Human Services may occur.
