South Dakota - SMART FY21 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program

The South Dakota Sex Offender Registry is assigned by statute to the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), a part of the Attorney General’s Office. Grant funds will be used to make technology improvements for SOR staff, including auto-population of information to eliminate manual entry; DNA samples and profiles maintenance; purchase equipment directly related to operating the state’s sex offender registration platform and public sex offender registry website; update the state’s DNA database and purchase DNA sample collection materials; and acquire surveillance cameras to apprehend non-compliant sex offenders to increase compliance rates.
